If you are going to the Cuevas del Drach on your own, buy your ticket on the official website: it is the cheapest option and it skips the queue, as long as you accept there is no way back if you arrive late.
Verdict
4.1/ 5
The direct channel gets the basics right: a clear price, €1 less than at the ticket office, straight access to the cave mouth and the same visit for everyone. It loses points for rigid terms (no changes, no refunds, no discounts) and for very limited accessibility, which is worth knowing before you pay.

What the official Caves of Drach website offers
Cuevas del Drach, S.A. is the Porto Cristo company that runs the caves. Its website sells a single product: a visit of around an hour along a route of about 1,200 m, ending at Lake Martel with a live concert of about 10 minutes and a crossing of the lake by boat or on foot over a bridge, at no extra cost. There is no "premium" version or private visit: everyone does the same one, in a group, unguided, following the staff.
Entry slots run every hour from 10:00 to 17:00 (except 13:00) from 16 March to 31 October, and at 10:30, 12:00, 14:00 and 15:30 in winter. The caves close on 25 December and 1 January. Everything else about the visit, the concert and how to get there is in our guide to the Caves of Drach from Palma.
Prices: buying direct or on a platform
| Ticket | Official website or app | Ticket office |
|---|---|---|
| Adult (13 and over) | €18.50 | €19.50 |
| Child (3 to 12) | €11.50 | €12.50 |

The online discount only applies to purchases on the website or the app. What the platforms mainly sell is the ticket with transport from Palma or from hotels. The half-day trip from Palma costs from €48.60 on Headout (plus its service fee), €54 on GetYourGuide and €54 direct with Nofrills Excursions; Civitatis sells it at €59.

The maths is simple. If you have a car or can manage with the TIB 401 bus from Palma, the official ticket (€18.50) plus transport works out much cheaper than any excursion. If you would rather not deal with the journey, the platform sells you convenience, not a different visit: inside the cave everyone follows the same route.

What travellers say
The most common complaints in reviews from people on organised trips have nothing to do with the cave itself, but with everything around it: hours on the coach picking people up from hotels and the feeling of a crowd when hundreds of people go in at once. People also mention that the boats are few and small, and that not everyone in the group gets on one.
What hardly anyone disputes is the concert: it is the moment people remember. Our advice, in line with what the caves themselves say: the quietest slots are 10:00 and the 16:00 and 17:00 ones. The coaches arrive mid-morning.
How to book and what happens if you cancel
How to buy the official ticket
- Go to the timetable and fares page and choose your day and slot, up to about 30 days ahead.
- Buy as an adult: the terms require the person booking to be 18 or over.
- Keep the ticket on your phone; no need to print it.
- Arrive 15 minutes early and go straight to the cave mouth, 200 m from the car park, without stopping at the ticket office.
The terms of sale are clear and tough: because the ticket is for a specific date and time, there is no right of withdrawal. The ticket is valid only for its slot; if you arrive late, it is neither refunded nor changed. You cannot book by phone.
If you go by bus, leave a margin
The TIB 401 takes about 1 h 15 from Palma to Porto Cristo. Choose a slot that starts at least 1 h 45 after your bus leaves: a late bus will not get you your €18.50 back.
Compared with the excursions, the official channel is the least flexible: Nofrills, for example, lets you cancel free up to 24 hours before, and on the platforms each listing states its own policy. If your date is uncertain, that flexibility may be worth the extra euros. In our reviews of GetYourGuide and Headout we explain how each one charges and refunds.

Rules to know before you pay
No suitcases or large bags are allowed, and there are no lockers: do not come straight from the airport with luggage. During the concert you cannot film or take photos; before and after, you can (no flash). Tripods and selfie sticks are not allowed either, nor going barefoot or shirtless.
The route has lots of steps with handrails: it cannot be done in a wheelchair and pushchairs are not allowed, so bring a baby carrier. The bar, the shop and the accessible toilets do have ramps. If someone in your group has reduced mobility, see the options in accessible Palma.
Alternatives to the Caves of Drach
- Coves dels Hams, on the same road from Manacor to Porto Cristo: same online price (€18.50), photos allowed throughout and a combo with Dinosaurland. They do give discounts at the ticket office (€2 for residents, €1 for seniors).
- Coves d'Artà, in Canyamel: guided visit for €17 per adult.
- Coves de Gènova, inside Palma: small, about 25 minutes, reachable by city bus. We cover them in our guide to the Caves of Genova.

Frequently asked questions
Is it cheaper to buy Cuevas del Drach tickets online?
Yes, by €1 per person: €18.50 per adult online against €19.50 at the ticket office, and €11.50 against €12.50 per child aged 3 to 12. With an online ticket you also skip the ticket-office queue.
Can I cancel a Cuevas del Drach ticket?
No. Tickets are for a set date and time, there is no right of withdrawal, and they are neither refunded nor changed if you miss your slot.
Are there discounts for residents or seniors?
There are no discounts at all at Drach. At the Coves dels Hams there are: €2 off for residents and €1 off for seniors, at the ticket office only.
Can I book by phone?
No. Only on the official website or app, up to about 30 days ahead, or at the caves' ticket office.
Is an excursion worth it instead of the official ticket?
If you have no car and do not want to take the 401 bus, yes: from €48.60 they take you there and back. Inside, the visit is the same; you are paying for transport and the peace of mind of not missing your slot.
