Tickets in Palma de Mallorca are cheap if you know where to buy them. The three old town essentials (cathedral, Almudaina and Banys Àrabs, the Arab Baths) add up to €21.50 at official prices and are a few minutes' walk from each other. On the platforms the same set costs the same or slightly more: what you pay extra for is convenience, an audio guide or more flexible cancellation.

Here is everything in and around Palma that needs a ticket, with the official price, what GetYourGuide, Tiqets and Headout charge, and when each option suits you. If you just want the full comparison table, it's in the price comparison.

The cathedral (La Seu) has two official tickets, and it pays not to confuse them. The standard one costs €10 and covers the cathedral itself plus the Museu d'Art Sacre de Mallorca (MASM), the former Diocesan Museum, which is right behind it and which hardly anyone visits. The €25 ticket adds the rooftop terraces: March to November only, over-9s only and not wheelchair accessible. Many websites call the €25 ticket "general admission"; it isn't. The €10 price comes from the cathedral's own website, so confirm it on catedraldemallorca.org before you go.

The Palau de l'Almudaina, the royal palace opposite, costs €8 (€5 for ages 5 to 16, over-65s and students up to 25). Castell de Bellver, the Gothic castle with a perfectly circular plan above Bellver woods, costs €4 and is free on Sundays and for under-14s. The Banys Àrabs, a single 10th- or 11th-century room with its garden, cost €3.50 and take cash only: there's no official website or online sales.

Outside the old town, the Pueblo Español opens daily from 10:00 to 18:00 for €12 (€6 for children aged 6 to 14, students and over-65s). The Coves de Gènova, the only cave you can visit without leaving the city limits, cost €12 and €7 up to age 12; it's small (about 25 minutes, 36 metres down) and the audio guide runs on an app on your phone, so bring earphones.

Palma Cathedral tickets: official, GetYourGuide, Tiqets or Headout

It's the best-selling ticket in Palma and the only one where buying online gives a physical advantage: with a ticket bought online you use the fast lane at the Portal del Mirador, while the museum ticket desk has its own queue. It doesn't matter whether you buy on the official website or a platform: the lane is the same.

Today GetYourGuide and Tiqets sell it from €11, a euro above the official price, and Headout from €15, plus the service fee it adds at checkout. The official ticket can't be changed or refunded once confirmed; on GetYourGuide you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before if the listing says so. If your plans are firm, buy on the official website. If you're on a cruise or your dates are uncertain, that extra euro of flexibility may be worth it. More detail in the guide to Palma Cathedral.

Three things no platform tells you:

  • Discounts only exist at the ticket desk. Children aged 9 or under, Balearic residents and people with disabilities go free or get a reduction, but only by showing the document at the desk. Buy online and you pay full price.
  • On Sundays there's no sightseeing, only Mass. On Saturdays it closes at 14:15 (last terrace slot at 13:30). Monday to Friday it opens 10:00–17:15 in high season and until 15:15 in winter.
  • There's a dress code: shoulders covered, nothing shorter than mid-thigh, no swimwear. You also can't go in with suitcases or large bags, and there's no left-luggage.

At the Almudaina the official price (€8) beats every platform: Tiqets sells it from €9.50 with a digital guide and GetYourGuide from €11. The only reason to pay more is wanting the audio guide included; at the ticket desk the official audio guide costs €5. The best thing about this palace is what you can save:

  • Free on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons (from 15:00 in winter) for EU citizens, EU residents and Ibero-American citizens, with a physical official ID. British or American tourists, for example, pay. Summer times for the free slot can vary: check on the Patrimonio Nacional page.
  • Free for everyone on 18 May and 12 October.
  • Under-5s and members of large families (familia numerosa card) go free at any time.

It closes every Monday, and at 19:00 in summer (last entry 18:00). Selfie sticks and tripods aren't allowed inside. Everything in the guide to the Almudaina.

At Bellver there's nothing to book: the ticket office is in the visitor centre by the car park, not at the castle gate, and stops selling 45 minutes before closing. Sunday is free but it closes at 15:00 and it's the busiest day; go first thing. The castle's own guides are suspended, so download the free audio guide from its website before heading up. Hours and prices on castelldebellver.palma.es and in our Bellver Castle guide.

The Coves de Gènova cost €12 at the desk and on the platforms; since they take small groups, book only in high season or at weekends.

Palma's museums are cheap and several are always free. If you're looking for free museums in Palma de Mallorca, these never charge:

  • Casal Solleric (Passeig del Born 27): contemporary art, free, Tuesday to Saturday 10:00–20:00 and Sundays 11:00–14:30. It's the best air-conditioned stop in the old town.
  • Museu Fundación Juan March: free, Monday to Friday 10:00–18:30 and Saturdays 10:30–14:00. One of the few open on Mondays.
  • La Llotja, the old Gothic exchange, hosts free temporary exhibitions when it's open.

And these have a free day:

  • Es Baluard (€8): on Fridays you pay what you like, from €0.10. Arrive by bike and it's €2. The view over the bay from the bastion is part of the visit.
  • Fundació Miró (€10): free for under-16s, on Saturdays from 15:00 and on the first Sunday of each month. It's in Cala Major, outside the centre (EMT 1, 4, 46 or 47). The Son Boter building is temporarily closed for restoration.

The Miró costs €10 everywhere; here a platform only helps if you want everything in one app. Palau March, next to the cathedral (sculptures by Henry Moore, Chillida and Rodin on the terrace, a nativity scene of almost 2,000 pieces), opens Monday to Saturday 10:00–17:30 and closes on Sundays and public holidays.

With children, Palma's museums are a bargain: the Miró is free up to 16, Bellver up to 14, the cathedral up to 9 (at the desk) and the Almudaina up to 5. For a rainy day, see also things to do in Palma when it rains.

Until 31 October the official website runs an afternoon promotion: 15% off if you enter after 14:00, from €26. No platform matches it. Last entry is at 17:00, so arrive around 15:00 to have two hours. If you'll go back, the annual Ocean Pass (€62 per adult) pays for itself in two visits. At the parks the official website usually wins. Western Water Park in Magaluf costs €36 online on its website and €38 at the gate, the same as all three platforms charge. Katmandu Park costs from €31 on its website and €33 on the platforms. Marineland costs €32 everywhere, but the family pack (2 adults + 2 children, €90) is sold only on its official website. Large-family and disability discounts at Marineland and Western Park only apply at the gate.

Marineland is still open and keeps its dolphin shows. More family plans in Palma with kids.

The half-day tour from Palma costs €54 both on GetYourGuide and on the website of the agency that runs it; Headout advertises it from €48.60, plus its service fee. The do-it-yourself alternative is TIB bus 401 from the Estació Intermodal (about 1 h 15 min to Porto Cristo) plus the online ticket: it works out a good deal cheaper, but take a bus that gets you there with time to spare, because the ticket can't be changed. Everything in the guide to the Caves of Drach.

Coves dels Hams, on the Manacor–Porto Cristo road: €18.50 online and €19.50 at the desk. Headout sells it from €18 and GetYourGuide at €18.50. Residents get €2 off and seniors €1, but only at the desk. Pushchairs and wheelchairs can't go in.

Cartoixa de Valldemossa (the Charterhouse): €12.50 (65+, €10), the same on its website as on GetYourGuide. Closed on Sundays. It includes a Chopin recital of about 15 minutes Monday to Saturday (10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:15 and 14:15). Note: the "Chopin and George Sand cell" (number 4) is a separate private museum, €5, selling tickets only at its own desk. More in Valldemossa and Deià.

Sóller train: €23 single and €30 return from Palma; train + tram to Port de Sóller, €40. Only the train + tram ticket is sold online, and at certain times there's a €32 online offer. Train-only tickets are bought at the station, next to Plaça d'Espanya, on the day. No refunds; you can change the time until 09:00 on the day of travel. Timetables on trendesoller.com and in the Sóller train guide.

Skip-the-line tickets in Palma: where they help and where they don't

"Skip the line" is the platforms' favourite phrase, and in Palma you almost never need it. Only two places give you a real advantage for buying online:

  • The cathedral: with an online ticket you use the fast lane at the Portal del Mirador. The official ticket works just as well as a platform one.
  • Cuevas del Drach: with an online ticket you go straight to the cave entrance, bypassing the ticket desk.

At the Almudaina, Bellver, the Banys Àrabs or the museums there are no queues to skip: paying extra for "skip the line" there is paying for a label.

All in one appOne website per site, each in its own languageAll your tickets together

Buy direct when the site is cheap and your plans are firm: Almudaina, Bellver, Banys Àrabs, museums, the aquarium in the afternoon and the parks. Also when you need a child, resident or family discount, which almost always applies only at the desk.

Buy on a platform when flexibility is worth more than the difference. The official cathedral ticket isn't refundable; the GetYourGuide or Tiqets one, for a euro more, can usually be cancelled up to 24 hours before. If you arrive by cruise ship and its schedule may change, that leeway matters. And for Drach from Palma without a car, the coach tour takes away the bus logistics and the risk of missing your slot.

Before paying, check the final price on the last screen, the actual provider and the cancellation terms of that specific ticket. We explain the differences between the three in how to compare GetYourGuide, Tiqets and Headout.

Free days and tricks to pay less

If you plan your calendar around it, you can see half of Palma without paying:

Day Free
Tuesday to Sunday Casal Solleric; Llotja exhibitions
Monday to Saturday Museu Fundación Juan March
Wednesday afternoon Almudaina (EU and Ibero-American citizens, with ID)
Friday Es Baluard, pay what you like
Saturday from 15:00 Fundació Miró
Sunday Bellver all day (until 15:00); Almudaina in the afternoon (EU); Miró on the first Sunday
18 May and 12 October Almudaina for everyone

The Monday problem. The Almudaina, Bellver, Es Baluard, the Miró and Casal Solleric all close. That's the day for the cathedral, Palau March, the Banys Àrabs, Pueblo Español, Coves de Gènova or the aquarium, which do open.

The Sunday problem. The cathedral takes no sightseeing visits and Palau March closes. You can attend Mass (10:30 or 12:00), suitably dressed, and see the nave without a ticket, but without wandering around or taking photos during the service. Better to give Sunday to free Bellver in the morning, the Miró if it's the first Sunday and the Almudaina in the afternoon if you hold an EU passport.

The "Bus + 9 Attractions" pass. City Sightseeing sells 48 hours of bus travel with entry to nine sites (cathedral, Banys Àrabs, Palau March, Es Baluard, CaixaForum, Bellver or Pueblo Español, among others) from €65.20. It only pays off if you really will go into four or five paid sights in two days: cathedral, Banys Àrabs, Es Baluard and Bellver add up to €25.50 at official prices, plus a bus we saw on its website from about €31.

Palma tickets FAQ

How much is a ticket to Palma Cathedral?

The official ticket costs €10 (€8 for over-65s and students) and includes the Museu d'Art Sacre. With the terraces, March to November and over-9s only, it's €25. On GetYourGuide and Tiqets it costs from €11; on Headout, from €15.

Which museums are free in Palma de Mallorca?

Always free: Casal Solleric, Museu Fundación Juan March and the Llotja exhibitions. With a free day: Es Baluard on Fridays (pay what you like), Fundació Miró on Saturdays from 15:00 and the first Sunday of the month, and Bellver every Sunday.

Is it cheaper to buy tickets on the official website or on GetYourGuide?

In Palma it's almost always the same or cheaper on the official website: the Almudaina costs €8 against €11, Katmandu €31 against €33. A platform pays off if you want free cancellation up to 24 hours before, because many official tickets aren't refundable.

Do I need skip-the-line tickets in Palma?

They only make sense at the cathedral (fast lane at the Portal del Mirador with any online ticket) and at the Cuevas del Drach. At Bellver, the Almudaina or the museums there are no queues to skip.

What's open on Mondays in Palma?

The cathedral, Palau March, the Banys Àrabs, Pueblo Español, Coves de Gènova and Palma Aquarium. The Almudaina, Bellver, Es Baluard, the Miró and Casal Solleric close.

Can cathedral or Drach tickets be refunded?

No. Official tickets for the cathedral, the Cuevas del Drach, the Sóller train and the Rafa Nadal Museum are non-refundable. If you buy on a platform, check the cancellation policy for that specific ticket before paying.
