City Sightseeing Mallorca runs the international franchise of open-top red buses in Palma: one circular route with 19 stops, combos with monument tickets and a boat trip round the bay. It has no competition, because it is the only sightseeing bus in the city. Our verdict in one sentence: a decent, flexible product that pays off if you are going to Bellver or the Poble Espanyol, and one you can skip if you only want the old town.
Verdict
3.6/ 5
It gets the basics right: the route reaches the two places that are awkward to get to without a car (Bellver and the Poble Espanyol), the buses are accessible and the ticket can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before. It loses points because in the afternoon it only comes every 45 minutes, because its website shows prices in your home currency and publishes no child fares, and because its boat costs less bought direct from the real operator. Traveller ratings on the platforms hover around 4.1 out of 5: a pass, without enthusiasm.

What City Sightseeing offers in Palma
The bus. Just one route, the Red Route, circular with 19 stops: it starts on Antoni Maura, opposite the Cathedral, goes up to Plaça d'Espanya, circles the centre along the avenues, drops down to the Passeig Marítim (the seafront promenade), passes the Poble Espanyol (stop 9) and Bellver (10), reaches the cruise port (13 and 14) and returns along the seafront. It runs 10:00 to 17:30, every 30 minutes until 14:30 and every 45 minutes after that. It includes an audio guide in 8 languages, earphones, a map and a cap. The full list of stops is in our guide to Palma's hop-on hop-off bus.
The combos. Bus plus Bellver or the Poble Espanyol, bus plus six attractions, and a 48-hour bus plus nine attractions (Cathedral, Banys Àrabs, Palau March, Es Baluard, CaixaForum, Museu Marítim, Sant Carles, Bellver or Poble Espanyol, and the boat or an immersive show).
The boat. A 50-minute trip round the port and the bay, water included, from the Escala Real, next to the Llotja. It leaves every hour from 11:00 to 17:00, Monday to Saturday, from 1 April to 30 November. Here is the small print: the boat is not City Sightseeing's. It is Sa Calma Boats' Marco Polo, the same vessel Sa Calma sells as "Mallorca City Boat". Same boat, three shop windows.

Prices: direct versus platforms
| Product | City Sightseeing website | Platforms | Sa Calma direct |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24 h bus | about €31 (price varies) | from €27 (GYG, Tiqets, Headout) | — |
| Bus + Bellver or Poble Espanyol | from €34.32 | — | — |
| Bus + 6 attractions | from €52.62 | — | — |
| Bus + 9 attractions, 48 h | from €65.20 | — | — |
| Bus + boat | — | from €46 (Tiqets, 24 or 48 h) | — |
| Boat only | about €21.74 | — | €19 |
The odd thing is that right now the bus is cheaper on the platforms than on the official website. City Sightseeing's website shows prices in your location's currency (pounds or dollars), so switch to euros before comparing.

The 9-attraction pass has a catch: buying the Cathedral (€10), Banys Àrabs (€3.50), Es Baluard (€8), CaixaForum (€6) and Bellver (€4) separately plus the bus comes to about €62.50, less than the pass's €65.20. It only pays off if you go into four or five paid sights in two days, and remember that the Cathedral does not open to tourists on Sundays and Bellver is free that day. What travellers say
City Sightseeing has no rating of its own on the big platforms, but its products do. On GetYourGuide the 24-hour bus has 4.1 out of 5 from more than 5,100 reviews; on Headout, also 4.1 from about 360; on Tiqets the bus alone drops to 3.8 from very few reviews, and the bus-and-boat combo rises to 4.2. For comparison, the Cathedral ticket has 4.6 on those same platforms.
That is the rating of a product that works without thrilling anyone. Given how the service is set up, what shapes the experience most is the afternoon frequency: at every 45 minutes, a couple of stops eat up the afternoon. Plan your long stops for the morning.
How to book and cancel
- On the official website: voucher on your phone or on paper, valid 12 months, free cancellation. The boat can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before and depends on the weather.
- On platforms: same route, same bus. On GetYourGuide, "pay later" is charged 72 hours before; on Headout a service fee is added at checkout and refunds may come as credit; on Tiqets you can only cancel if the listing says so.
- Boat: collect your boarding card and drink voucher at the kiosk by the Escala Real before boarding. Children aged 0 to 5 travel free but must be on the booking.
The combo and Sundays
The boat does not run on Sundays. If you buy bus and boat for a Sunday, you lose half the product. The same applies from December to March, when the boat does not operate.

Alternatives to City Sightseeing
- Just the boat: buy it direct from Sa Calma Boats for €19. If you want a swim or a sunset, look at boat trips in Palma.
- Just the old town: it is easy on foot. A walking tour tells you more than an audio guide.
- Just getting around: the EMT city bus costs €2 in cash, and less with a contactless card. Line 1 covers the port and the Passeig Marítim, and lines 4, 20 and 46 get you close to Bellver, though you then have to walk up. We explain it in our review of Palma's public transport.
- Cruise passengers: compare the bus with the EMT 1 in the cruise port guide.
