What Tiqets is and who is behind it

Tiqets was founded in Amsterdam in 2014. The company you contract with is Tiqets International B.V., which acts as intermediary: it sells the ticket, but the museum, cave or boat belongs to someone else. It is privately held and in 2019 closed a funding round led by Airbnb; it has not been sold or merged.

Its strength is tickets to monuments and attractions rather than guided tours. That makes it a good fit for Palma: the cathedral, the Aquarium, the Almudaina, the Fundació Miró or the Gènova caves.

What Tiqets sells in Mallorca

When we checked, Tiqets had about 45 products in Mallorca: 18 attractions, 4 nature experiences, 14 boats and cruises, 6 city visits and 3 water activities. The best sellers are the cathedral (4.6 from more than 4,200 reviews) and the Aquarium (4.4 from about 1,480), well ahead of the sightseeing bus.

As well as single tickets it has combos that can pay off: cathedral + Almudaina for €20.50, the 24- or 48-hour sightseeing bus with a boat from €46, the Sóller train with tram and boat to Sa Calobra for €65, or the "Best of Palma" bundle (cathedral, Aquarium and bus) from €102. Among its boats are a 3-hour dolphin trip from Palma for €55 and a dolphin catamaran from Peguera for €45.

Palma Cathedral on Tiqets: what you need to know

This is Tiqets' star product in Palma. The ticket costs €11, one euro more than the €10 on the official website (check the price on catedraldemallorca.org), and covers the cathedral and the sacred art museum. Buying online, whether on Tiqets or the official website, gets you in through the fast lane at the Portal del Mirador.

Remember the cathedral does not open for tourist visits on Sundays and closes early on Saturdays. The terraces are a separate ticket (€25 on the official website, March to November, over-9s only).

What travellers say

When we checked, Tiqets had 4.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot from about 62,000 reviews: 75% five-star and only 7% one-star. It replies to 89% of negative reviews, although it often takes up to a month.

Recurring complaints: groups larger than advertised on guided visits, difficult refunds and audio guides that fail. The praise: quick checkout and tickets that arrive instantly.

How to buy and cancel on Tiqets

Buying is simple: pick a date and, if there is one, a time slot, pay, and the ticket appears in your email and the app. The small print is in the cancellation terms:

  • You can only cancel if the product description says so.
  • For leisure services on a specific date there is no right of withdrawal, so many tickets are final.
  • If the listing allows cancellation, you can claim a refund up to 28 days after the ticket date.
  • The help centre is open 24 hours.
