If you are reading Civitatis reviews before booking in Palma, start here: it is a Spanish platform for booking excursions and guided tours, based in Madrid. It runs nothing in Palma itself: it resells activities from local companies, just like GetYourGuide or Viator. Our verdict: it is a reliable, convenient option for booking in Spanish, with prices nearly always the same as the operator's, but read each listing's cancellation terms before you pay.

What Civitatis is and who is behind it

Civitatis Tours, S.L. is headquartered on the Gran Vía in Madrid. Its founder is Alberto Gutiérrez and its CEO Andrés Spitzer. It presents itself as the leading platform for Spanish-language activities and says it has collected more than 5 million customer reviews.

What matters to you: Civitatis is an intermediary. Whoever takes you out by boat or guides you round the old town is a local company, and the Civitatis listing tells you which one. Under its general terms, cancellation is set by each activity.

What Civitatis sells in Palma

The Palma de Mallorca catalogue has about 47 activities. The ones that come up most are the same ones every platform in the city leads with:

  • Bay catamaran with lunch (€59), rated 9 out of 10 from about 300 reviews.
  • Sóller train, tram and boat to Sa Calobra (€65), the most-reviewed excursion: 8.3 out of 10 from more than 1,000.
  • Panoramic boat trip around Palma from €19.
  • Palma Aquarium at €30.50.
  • Drach caves from Palma, €59.
  • Hammam Al Ándalus from €68 with massage, in a 90-minute session.
  • Jet ski, 30 minutes from Club Nàutic Cala Gamba, from €99.
  • Skippered llaüt from the Real Club Náutico de Palma: €590 per group of up to 5 people, 5 hours.
  • Luxury sailing boat, 6 hours, €140.

The llaüt is the traditional wooden Mallorcan boat; if the private option appeals, we cover it in the Palma boat rental guide.

Civitatis prices against direct and other platforms

Here is the useful part: in Palma, Civitatis is not usually more expensive than booking direct.

Activity Civitatis GetYourGuide Direct
Bay catamaran, 5 h with lunch €59 from €59 €59 (Magic Catamarans)
Train + tram + boat to Sa Calobra €65 from €65 €65 (the train's partner)
Panoramic boat trip around Palma from €19 from €19 €19 (Sa Calma Boats)
Palma Aquarium €30.50 from €30.50 €30.50
Drach caves from Palma €59 from €54 €18.50 online ticket + transport

The €59 catamaran costs the same as on the Magic Catamarans website, and the €19 boat matches the price of the Marco Polo boat from Sa Calma Boats. For the aquarium no platform saves you anything: the official website charges the same and, until 31 October, takes 15% off in the afternoon.

Where you do overpay is Drach: the official ticket costs €18.50 online, and the TIB 401 bus takes you there from Palma. The coach excursion with entry is from €54 on GetYourGuide, €5 less than on Civitatis. We cover it all in the Drach caves guide.

What travellers say

When we checked, Civitatis had 4.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot from about 195,000 reviews: 77% five-star and only 5% one-star. It replies to almost every negative review within 24 hours.

These themes keep coming up on Trustpilot:

  • Good: the guides and the app.
  • Bad: time changes without notice, refunds refused after those changes, wrong meeting points and support advertised as "24/7" that is hard to reach; several replies send the customer to a form.

On the Palma listings, the catamaran's score (9 out of 10) and the Sóller train's (8.3 out of 10) follow the same pattern as on other platforms: the boat goes down better than the long full-day excursion by coach, train and boat.

How to book and cancel on Civitatis

You book on civitatis.com or in its app, and receive a voucher with the meeting point. Three things worth knowing:

  1. Cancellation is per listing. The jet ski allows free cancellation up to 24 hours before, the private llaüt up to 48 hours. Read it before you pay, not after.
  2. Bad weather. The general terms say Civitatis is not responsible for the weather the company runs the activity in, and that in that case the service counts as delivered. If the wind forecast is bad, check it yourself and cancel within the free window.
  3. If the company changes something. When the operator offers you an alternative and you turn it down, Civitatis refunds you.

When to choose Civitatis and when not to

Choose Civitatis if you are more comfortable reading terms and writing to support in Spanish, or if you already have an account and like having all your trip bookings in one place. On the best-selling boat trips you lose no money.

Better to go another way in these cases:

  • Monument tickets: buy the cathedral ticket on its official website or compare it on our Palma Cathedral tickets page. Resident and child discounts only apply at the ticket desk.
  • Drach caves: the official online ticket plus the bus works out much cheaper.
  • Sóller train: if you go on your own, the train-only return ticket costs €30 at the Plaça d'Espanya ticket office. It is in the Sóller train guide.

Alternatives to Civitatis

  • GetYourGuide: the biggest catalogue in Palma and the option to reserve now and pay later (it charges your card 72 h before).
  • Tiqets: stronger on museum, cathedral and aquarium tickets.
  • Viator: owned by Tripadvisor; standard 24-hour cancellation, except non-refundable listings.
  • Click-Mallorca: Mallorcan agency based in the north, also in Spanish.
